OH-05: An Update from Bowling Green

Tue Dec 11, 2007 at 01:42:27 PM PDT

[Promoted by DHinMI]

Disclosure: I am volunteering out of the Robin Weirauch for Congress campaign headquarters in Bowling Green.

Polls are open here until 7:30pm, so there's three hours till polls close. The verdict so far? Because of the weather we believe turnout is low. But nobody knows if that is good or bad. It's doubly important that if you know anybody living in the district, you call them now and ask them to go vote for Robin. If you're on Facebook, you can use this event to invite your friends and family to go vote. But a personal phone call is probably best.

The weather is pretty uniformly bad. It's been raining or misting or about to rain all day. At least it isn't icy out. Supposed to be in the upper 30s for the rest of the day.

Ohio Daily Blog and Buckeye State Blog have been offering up great coverage all day, be sure to go read their posts.

For results tonight, check out the SOS website.

OH-05 Update: Election Eve

Mon Dec 10, 2007 at 08:02:54 AM PDT

Disclosure: I am volunteering out of the Robin Weirauch for Congress campaign headquarters in Bowling Green.

Today is the last day before Election Day. The crush of volunteers from the weekend is over, so the office is calmer. It’s the calm before the storm, the forecast for tomorrow is more bad weather. We’re still seeing volunteers streaming in to talk to voters. Everyone is talking about how this is going to be a close one, so nobody wants to leave that last door un-knocked, that last number un-called.

What we need now, is you.

Update: More from OH-05

Sun Dec 09, 2007 at 08:31:00 AM PDT

Disclosure: I am volunteering out of the Robin Weirauch for Congress campaign headquarters in Bowling Green.

The Ohio special election is in just 2 days now!

The National Weather Service has issued an ice storm warning for the 5th congressional district area, the temperature is bitter cold and the winds are bone-chilling. The weather is terrible outside, but people continue to stream in for door-knocking to help elect Robin Wierauch.

If you live in OH-05, hopefully you’ve gotten a call from the campaign at some point. If you were home last night, that call may have come from Robin Weirauch herself. Candidate Robin was sitting right behind me, making voter calls alongside several volunteers.

Disclosure: I am volunteering out of the Robin Weirauch for Congress campaign headquarters in Bowling Green.

Today will be more phone-banking and door-knocking for the Weirauch campaign, to reach every possible supporter in the district and remind them of the special election on Tuesday. The office was packed this morning with supporters for our canvass.

Disclaimer: I am a volunteer for the Robin Weirauch for Congress campaign.

I am writing from the Robin Weirauch campaign headquarters in Bowling Green, the epicenter. There are a couple dozen people here, lots of people coming in and out. Some people are on the phones, canvasses leave periodically. The office is hopping. There are other offices elsewhere in the district, and we hear the unions and other groups are working out there too.

MI blogger get-together: Sat 2/18

Wed Feb 15, 2006 at 09:28:33 AM PDT

Michlib is organizing a get-together for Michigan bloggers, at the MDP convention this Saturday. Be there or be square!

We're meeting at 12:30 (lunch time), at the foot of the main staircase (right in the front - by Michigan Ave). If we're so inclined, we could go across to the street to the Nuthouse (or someplace else) for lunch.

The MDP convention is being held at the Lansing Center in Lansing. 333 E. Michigan Ave. All are invited. Full agenda below the fold.

My DNC/YDA/ADSC Phoenix Conference Roundup

Sun Dec 04, 2005 at 03:09:12 PM PDT

Just arrived back in town from my weekend in Phoenix, at the joint DNC/ADSC/YDA fall conference. My impression: eye-opening.

Background: three Democratic conferences were held together in the same hotel, with many people attending some of the events of all three. The ADSC is the Association of Democratic State Chairs (the chairs of all the state parties). YDA is the Young Democrats of America.

As a YDA member, I had guest access to drop in on nearly all DNC and ADSC events. This post will be mostly YDA-specific since that's the bulk of the events I attended. There is a full DNC account over at mydd from Jenny Greenleaf. Also the DNC set up a bank of computers onsite for attendees to blog from, comments collected here. This was many DNC folks' first ever experience blogging - maybe it'll become a habit?

Tonight I Met Al Gore

Mon Oct 24, 2005 at 09:10:06 PM PDT

Cross-posted at Michigan Liberal.

UPDATE: Due to confidentiality and copyright issues involved with the University and Al Gore, I am removing this post. Would like to say though that he gave a fantastic speech, and if you ever have the chance to see him talk on global warming, don't miss it.

Also please take the time to use the personal greenhouse gas calculator, from the EPA. It will let you estimate your impact on the environment and give you suggestions on how to mitigate it.

There are two articles in the media on this event too, Ann Arbor News and Michigan Daily.

Finally, please check out madman in the marketplace's excellent diary yesterday on global warming. It has lots of the same details as Al Gore's speech.
